About The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics

The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics, the official publication of the Association for Molecular Pathology, co-published by the American Society for Investigative Pathology, seeks to publish high-quality original papers on scientific advances in the translation and validation of molecular discoveries in medicine into the clinical diagnostic setting, and the description and application of technological advances in the field of molecular diagnostic medicine. The editors welcome for review articles which contain: novel discoveries with direct application to clinical diagnostics or clinicopathologic correlations including studies in oncology, infectious diseases, inherited diseases, predisposition to disease, or the description of polymorphisms linked to disease states or normal variations; the application of diagnostic methodologies in clinical trials; or the development of new or improved molecular methods for diagnosis or monitoring of disease or disease predisposition.

6 issues per year (published in January, March, May, July, September, and November). All content is made publicly available 12 months from publication.

Current impact factor: 2.901 (2006 JCR)

The Association for Molecular Pathology is a not-for-profit scientific society dedicated to the advancement, practice, and science of clinical molecular laboratory medicine and translational research based on the applications of genomics and proteomics. AMP is committed to the advancement of clinical molecular diagnostic and prognostic medicine through education and training of practitioners, physicians, laboratory and industrial scientists, and health care professionals involved in patient care and management. AMP supports the development of new technologies in molecular biology to be used in laboratory medicine, including diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of genetic disorders, cancer, infectious diseases, identity and histocompatibility. AMP members and supporters participate in basic and translational research aimed at broadening the understanding of gene/protein structure and function, disease processes, and molecular diagnostics. AMP aims to inform and educate its members of advances in, and applications of, DNA-, RNA-, and protein-based diagnostics through its annual society meetings, publications (The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics and the AMP newsletter), website (www.amp.org), listserv (CHAMP), and other venues.

The American Society for Investigative Pathology is a society of biomedical scientists who investigate mechanisms of disease. Investigative pathology is an integrative discipline that links the presentation of disease in the whole organism to its fundamental cellular and molecular mechanisms. It uses a variety of structural, functional and genetic techniques and ultimately applies research findings to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. ASIP advocates the practice of investigative pathology and fosters the professional career development and education of its members.
